My Story

Francisco Nanne: Creator / Teacher

In case you were wondering, I was born and raised in the beautiful country of Guatemala in 1989.

Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to participate with multiple renowned artists and institutions.

I spent my early days touring Central and South America with Guatemalan rock band “Woodser” (No.1 song in top national radio).

In 2011, I moved to Los Angeles, CA after I obtained a scholarship to attend Musicians Institute. As a student I won the Artist Development Showcase (x2) and got the chance to form a band with Canadian rising artist Travis Cormier.

Since 2014, I have been associated with grammy award winner Barry DeVorzon and his son Daniel DeVorzon. Our live performance was recognized by popular magazine Music Connection in 2017 after a sold out show at the legendary Roxy. “Drummer Nanne hits hard and makes it look effortless.”

During this time I also had the opportunity to work on recording sessions at Red Bull Studios LA with recording/mixing engineer James Musshorn.

In 2017, I joined Music Nation as a full-time drum teacher after I realized that my true passion is teaching this amazing instrument. I developed my own drum program and then became a partner. As a result, I created this branch with the goal of providing support material to my students and to encourage them to develop the same passion for music that I have. I teach virtual drum lessons in English, Spanish, and French.

I have most experience teaching kids between 6 and 14 years old and I am proud to say that their parents consider me a positive influence in their children’s lives.

A great education always starts with good communication with the parents. This is why I try to involve them as much as I can.

One thing I can assure you is that I love what I do and that I always give my best.

Why DNTV?

2020 marked an era of uncertainty for many. Especially for working parents who now have their children at home left unattended. In some cases this has led to a decline in their academic performance and to some character issues. This is also caused by boredom and procrastination.

It is a real issue that has to be addressed. Childhood sets the pillars of the characteristics that will define their adult lives. Developing bad habits at an early age will definitely affect their future.

This is actually what happened to me when I lost my father at 17 years old, losing with him my biggest authority figure. My life lacked discipline, leading into bad habits and poor core values. I wasted the opportunity of having a college education TWICE (including a scholarship) failing to even achieve the minimum attendance. Eventually I got suspended and, to make things worse, I also got into debt. I reached rock bottom and suffered the worst existential crisis and depression. I was in my late 20’s and I was starting to consider really bad alternatives.

Out of an act of desperation on a lonely night of June 2016, I decided to completely devote my life to drumming for one month just to see what happened. At that point, I had nothing to lose.

Carl Jung used to say that God is to be found only when you look low enough — I can say that I understood what he meant when I finally COMMITTED to something. It was an absolute turning point. The moment I made that conscious decision I could feel fire once again in me. Of course there’s always highs and lows but I never felt depressed again. My whole paradigm changed. In the process I met and married the love of my life and became a drums teacher at Music Nation LLC with whom I eventually partnered and created this branch.
The more students I met, I realized that I could identify in them the little things I wish I did earlier in life; like not taking my talents for granted. It hurts me to think how much better I could be if I appreciated this earlier in my life.

I created Drum Nation TV so I could teach my students this amazing feeling of fulfillment the same way I found it.
It’s really not about drumming. It is about earning something no one can ever take away from them. Drumming is merciless but righteous. Their progress will be directly proportional to the amount of work and dedication put on. Once they acknowledge this, they will realize that they have complete control over their lives.

My mission is to make sure that every student I have understands this, so that when they eventually find their vocation, they know exactly how to approach it, both in their professional and personal life.

I love teaching drums and there’s is absolutely nothing else in the world I would rather do. That’s why you can be assured that you will get my 110% in every single session.
